Go Kart Blow Up

Took a few weeks to finalize.  Ran through 2 design review with coworkers.  Almost everything is parametric, so changes are easy to make.

Four 350W electric scooter wheels power the go kart.  This gives very fast acceleration and excellent driving dynamics.

Drivetrain


Go Kart contains Caliper brakes which clasp the rear drivers side wheel.  More than enough for quick stops

Go Kart contains two suspension elements.  Double wishbone in front and split frame in rear.  Front realistically does most of the work since rear coil overs are very stiff.

Originally powered by Nema 17 steppers (pictured), I had to upgrade to a Nema 34 for additional power.  Steering rack is pulled from a 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

Entire front console is hinged and can lift out of the way to make room for driver.

Steering Bar

Wheel turns a Quadrature optical encoder.  This data is sent to a pi pico which commands the Nema 34 motor driver to step or switch direction.

The Go Kart contains additional Headlights, Taillights, High Beams, and of course Cup Holders.  

All of these were one off CAD Projects I never implemented in the full scale model
