Solid Works Modeling of Toy Submarine

This project involved reverse-engineering a real toy submarine by carefully taking physical measurements and replicating the design in SolidWorks. The goal was to create a precise, fully detailed 3D CAD model that accurately represented the original submarine while reinforcing measurement, modeling, and design documentation skills.

HighlightS

  • Collected accurate dimensional data from the toy submarine using calipers and manual measurement techniques.
  • Created a full 3D CAD model in SolidWorks, replicating the geometry and proportions of the submarine.
  • Applied parametric modeling techniques to ensure accuracy and ease of modification.
  • Developed assembly features and part constraints to simulate the submarine’s structure.
  • Produced detailed engineering drawings with dimensions and annotations for documentation and verification.

SKILLS

Geometry replication
Parametric modeling
Dimensional accuracy
Model validation

For this project, my role included reverse-engineering a real toy submarine by carefully measuring its dimensions with calipers and other manual tools, then translating those measurements into a precise CAD model. I replicated the submarine in SolidWorks, using parametric modeling to ensure accuracy, scalability, and ease of modification. Throughout the process, I focused on maintaining dimensional fidelity and capturing the details of each component, from the outer body to the internal features. Once the model was complete, I created assembly relationships and constraints to reflect how the parts fit together in the real submarine. I also produced detailed engineering drawings with annotations and dimensions, ensuring the design was fully documented and could be used for future analysis, replication, or potential manufacturing.
