OVERVIEW

Designed, assembled, and tested a cordless wrench prototype. The objective was to create a functional mechanical device capable of delivering torque, featuring a custom-built gearbox, electronic control system, and a robust housing. The design utilized a combination of 3D-printed casing and a sheet metal chassis to house the internal components, including an output socket driven by a gear train. A key focus of the development was the implementation of a shear pin—a critical safety component designed to fail at a specific load (10 Nm) to protect the device from over-torque. While the prototype was successful on its first attempt, the project provided significant insights into the importance of manufacturing tolerances, material properties, and cable management.
