OVERVIEW

Designed, coded, and constructed an electromechanical system which automated the process of folding laundry, targeting household use for both adults and children. The system is built on a standard folding board and controlled by an Arduino UNO. It utilizes an IR sensor and receiver to initiate the folding cycle upon detecting a user's hand wave, ensuring a simple and straightforward operation. Included a piezo speaker to alert user when cycle is finished.

HighlightS

  • Utilized 3D-printed custom hinges to create a synchronous motion between standard servos and folding segments.
  • Developed control software using a for loop structure to precisely control the servo speed, ensuring a neat, consistent fold.
  • Implemented an IR sensor for touchless activation and integrated a piezo speaker to provide audio feedback upon successful completion of the folding cycle.
