Automatic Plate Dispenser

The automatic plate dispenser is a personal side project. I started working on it after observing students manually scan their student cards through an phone app manually during cafeteria hours. It implies a person holding a phone and scanning through 200+ users, which leads to a long waiting line and is easily overpassed (human factor). The project aims to build a machine to automate the process

What?

The Automatic Plate Dispenser (ADP) is a machine built to automatically distribute plate to student subscribe to the cafeteria. It is a alternative to manually scan each student ID card eliminating waiting line and trespassing.

How?

The ADP is equipped with a camera that scans student's QR/bar code to check if the student is subscribe or not to the cafeteria.

Two solenoid locks block the plates from sliding out. When the scan is approved, the solenoids retract (unlocking the plates), and a green light turns on. The ultrasonic sensor detects when a plate is taken and reengages the solenoids. If denied (student not subscribe), a red light stays on, and the locks stay engaged.

After taking a plate, the spring pushes the stack upward, keeping plates ready for the next user.

The linear rachet system helps to hold the plates during transportation.
