Project Timeline

Jun 2025 - Sep-2025

OVERVIEW

During my internship at Tolerance Masters, I supported aerospace manufacturing and quality operations through CAD modeling, prototyping, inspection, and workflow improvement. My work involved interpreting engineering drawings for shop and inspection support, designing original CAD models for custom tools and organizational components based on machinist needs, and rapidly prototyping solutions using 3D printing. The role emphasized practical engineering judgment, close collaboration with shop-floor personnel, and improving day-to-day efficiency in a high-tolerance manufacturing environment.

HighlightS

  • Interpreted provided blueprints and drawings to create accurate CAD models supporting inspection, documentation, and shop reference needs.
  • Designed original, self-directed CAD models for custom shop tools, organizers, and fixtures based on direct input from machinists and quality staff.
  • Prototyped and fabricated 3D-printed tools and organizational components, delivering fast, low-cost solutions tailored to daily shop workflows.
  • Performed dimensional inspection on thousands of aerospace components, verifying tight tolerances and supporting quality assurance activities.
  • Developed Excel-based tracking tools for work orders and first-article documentation, improving organization and traceability within quality workflows.
  • Assisted in the reorganization and renovation of the quality lab, improving layout, accessibility, and usability for inspection staff.
