Project Timeline

Apr 2023 - May-2023

OVERVIEW

Took on a group project over the span of ~1.5 months to solve a problem by designing a new innovation. Our product which we chose to design was a new type of caster wheel for office chairs, incorporating a coil-on-spring design (spring not shown in picture). Our reasoning was that the common caster wheels on chairs have a tendency to get caught and stuck while attempting to move or rotate, and this could solve that problem by allowing the wheels to go over these obstacles whether it is uneven carpet or a foreign object in the way.

HighlightS

  • Designed a feasible caster wheel solution while keeping size, cost, product life, material, and design/assembly in mind

ADDITIONAL CONTENTS

This project allowed me to get a grasp on 2D/3D CAD design. I also further expanded my ability to work in a team, as well as documentation when writing the final report. I am truly proud of this for being a 1-month project in my freshman year as an engineering student.
