Project Timeline

Aug 2025 - Dec-2025

OVERVIEW

- Design a compact RC reconnaissance platform that provides live video with reliable wireless control into a small chassis with power constraints. - Build a working prototype that enables operator control over BLE/WIFI protocols using a Steam Deck with live FPV video monitoring. - Integrated a Raspberry Pi Pico 2W with BLE/WLAN connectivity to Steam Deck (Linux), implemented joystick input handling in Micro python to generate motor commands for ESC driven brushless motors, and assembled and analog FPV system displayed using OBS. Chassis was designed using SolidWorks. - Demonstrated functionality with wireless driving with a live FPV video feed to the Steam Deck interface, proving subsystem integration while identifying key design improvements.

HighlightS

  • Established communication between Pico 2W (python) to Steam Deck (Linux) using BLE/WIFI protocols for operator control input.
  • Implemented Micro Python joystick parsing for command transmission to drive brushless motors through ESCs.
  • Integrated analog FPV system using a 5.8Ghz VTX configured to USB receiver using OBS for live video feed.
  • Designed enclosure using SolidWorks, 3D printed and soldered components for system integration.
  • Implemented 11.1V LiPo power delivery system to 5V regulator to stabilize power to components individually.
