ABOUT ME
My name is Anthony Pedigo, and I was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, California. Growing up in Tahoe gave me a deep appreciation for the natural environment and the outdoor lifestyle that makes the region so unique. I developed a love for Lake Tahoe, the surrounding mountains, rivers, waterfalls, forests, wildlife, and the changing seasons that define life in the Sierra Nevada.
During the summer and fall, I spent much of my time outdoors swimming at the lake, hiking, boating, biking, golfing, disc golfing, floating local rivers, and spending time with friends. Some of my favorite hikes include Horsetail Falls and sunrise climbs of Mount Tallac. In the winter and spring, skiing became a major part of my life. I have been skiing in Tahoe since I was two years old and hope to continue skiing at my hometown mountains for the rest of my life.
Sports and extracurricular activities were also an important part of my upbringing. I played baseball from tee ball through middle school, basketball from middle school through my sophomore year of high school, and competed on my high school's alpine ski team during my junior and senior years. I also participated in track and field and cross country while in middle school. In addition, I took piano lessons from elementary school through my graduation from high school.
During my senior year at South Tahoe High School, a friend and I founded the Climate Crew, a student organization focused on environmental stewardship and community engagement. Through the club, we organized local trash cleanups, met with local government officials and the school board to advocate for student concerns, attended a Citizens' Climate Lobby conference in Oakland, and hosted a Protect Our Winters assembly featuring professional skier Michelle Parker as our guest speaker. We also participated in efforts that contributed to the acquisition of the first all-electric school bus for the Lake Tahoe Unified School District.
After graudating highschool, I chose to attend my local junior college, Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC). During my 2 years at LTCC, I took many general education courses, including calculus, physics, and chemistry. My proficiency in these courses guided my decision to pursue a degree in civil engineering. I made many great connections with my professors at LTCC, and I value the experiences I had.
I chose to transfer to Chico State because I had heard about their amazing engineering
