OVERVIEW

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer Designed an extended structural platform to accommodate a new valve block assembly within an existing process skid system. The goal was to enhance operator accessibility and improve serviceability while maintaining alignment with existing process lines and hygienic standards. The project required careful integration of new structural elements into a live production environment, ensuring full mechanical compatibility and minimal downtime.

HighlightS

Key Contributions:

Integrated Valve Block Design: Developed a precision-engineered support section to house multiple process valves, maintaining exact alignment with pipework and instrumentation.

Structural Extension: Extended an existing access platform using SOLIDWORKS Weldments, ensuring structural continuity and safe operator access to new valves.

Sheet Metal Engineering: Created sheet-metal infill panels, toe boards, and removable flooring for hygienic and maintenance-friendly operation.

Process Compatibility: Modelled pipe runs, clearances, and valve service envelopes to avoid interference with adjacent process lines.

Safety & Ergonomics: Designed ergonomic handrail extensions and kick plates to ensure compliance with site safety standards.

Installation Efficiency: Implemented a modular extension concept that allowed the new platform section and valve block assembly to be installed during planned shutdown, reducing production impact.

Outcome: Delivered a durable, compliant, and easily maintainable extension that improved operational efficiency and access to critical process valves.
