Behind the Scenes
As the president of the STEAM Club, I have assisted some of our very talented, rocket-knowledgeable leaders in organizing these workshops. We have began the process to creating rocketry workshop guides to help other clubs and organizations at NOVA and beyond jumpstart their rocketry journey.
Structuring the Workshops
The STEAM Club splits up the workshops based on chronological order of building the rocket, time, and skill. Officers and knowledgeable members take part in leading certain parts of the workshop, and we work as a team to ensure all of our members are on board and can learn the process of building a rocket.
- OpenRocket
- Laser Cutting
- Rocket Construction
- Revision
- Finalization
Each of the categories shown above are sections within the workshop that officers are to lead based on their skill level and knowledge.
Goal
Our goal for leading rocketry workshops is to encourage students at NOVA to get hands-on experience and for them to have a creative outlet where they are able to decorate their rocket as they wish. Many of our members and officers never thought they'd be able to build something like this, and it is an eye-opening experience for them where they walk away with more knowledge than before.
