Students were tasked with the objective to move a can of soda across an 800 x 300 mm area. I collaborated with my team members to design a device utilizing a rotating platform and rack and pinion to move the can. The design process was completed using SolidWorks and as part of the final report, I helped draft engineering drawings of the components and helped perform a motion study. For the manufacturing of the components, I used a PolyPrinter 229 with PLA filament and used KISSlicer to slice the stl files and add the needed appropriate supports for each component. The servo motors used to control the rotating platform and rack and pinion were connected to a Elegoo UNO R3 and programmed using the Arduino IDE. The final assembly worked as intended and the can was moved into the corner of the designated boundary.
