Project Timeline

Oct 2025 - Dec-2025

OVERVIEW

Designed and manufactured a precision fuel system component with a focus on manufacturability, dimensional accuracy, and functional integration. The part was modeled in CAD and produced from aluminum using manual machining operations, including facing, profiling, pocketing, drilling, and tapping. One face was threaded to accept a 1/4-inch MPT fitting, with temporary tape used during prototyping to protect the threads and verify fitment. I personally performed the prototyping and machining, iterating the design to account for tool access, fixturing, thread quality, and tolerance control. The final component meets functional requirements for assembly and sealing while demonstrating practical understanding of machining constraints, process planning, and real-world fabrication tradeoffs.

HighlightS

  • Designed a manufacturable fuel system component with real machining constraints in mind
  • Personally performed all prototyping, fixturing, and bending/machining operations
  • Applied process planning to control tolerances and surface finish
  • Translated CAD geometry into physical hardware through iterative fabrication
