OVERVIEW

As part of the Icarus Sounding Rocket Program, I serve as the Avionics Hardware Team Lead, contributing to the design and development of flight-ready electronics for a student-engineered sounding rocket. My role involves overseeing multiple hardware projects, coordinating with the Avionics Team Head, and producing custom PCB for our main project of sending a rocket past the Kármán line.

HighlightS

  • Serve as the Avionics Hardware Team Lead, coordinating hardware tasks and supporting team members across multiple sub projects.
  • Designed a custom pyrotechnic deployment PCB from scratch, including schematic capture, routing, and component selection.
  • Managed the development and integration of flight-critical electronics, including sensors, micro controllers, and power systems.
  • Worked closely with software, mechanical, and recovery teams to ensure cross-system compatibility and mission readiness.
  • Conducted extensive hardware testing and debugging, such as signal tracing, continuity checks, and power system validation.
  • Implemented iterative design improvements to address noise issues, routing constraints, and hardware reliability.
  • Maintained documentation and version control for all PCB designs and hardware revisions using Git/GitBash.
  • Helped keep projects on schedule and aligned with launch deadlines through organized task planning and communication.
