Model Rocket Design & Simulation
Developed a high-performance model rocket through iterative CAD design, OpenRocket simulation, and stability optimization. The project focused on achieving maximum apogee and aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining flight stability across various motor configurations. Key design considerations included creative fin geometry, nose cone length, and center of gravity/pressure alignment to ensure a stable yet high reaching flight profile. The rocket incorporated birch plywood fins, a PLA 3D-printed nose cone and avionics bay, and precision-engineered centering rings and eye bolts for durability and modular assembly. Using OpenRocket simulations, the final design achieved a stability margin of 1.7 calibers and demonstrated consistent apogee performance under different conditions.
