Project Timeline

Jan 2024 - Apr-2025

OVERVIEW

As part of a four-person team, I helped design and build a fully functional mechatronics robot for a Mars Rover–themed engineering challenge. We created the robot’s mechanical structure in SolidWorks, fabricated the body using 3D-printed components, and programmed all functionality using C++. Our robot was required to navigate a complex course that simulated real challenges a rover would encounter on Mars, including obstacle traversal, precise movement, and task execution.

HighlightS

Placed 3rd out of 12 teams based on fastest track-completion time in the Mars Rover challenge.

Successfully completed 100% of the required mission tasks, earning a full grade for performance.

Developed a highly reliable robot that consistently navigated obstacles and executed tasks without failure.

Integrated mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems smoothly through iterative testing and refinement.

Demonstrated strong team coordination, rapid prototyping, and effective debugging under tight deadlines.

Pictures

To help my team, I helped with the general troubleshooting that was needed along the process, and I was principally responsible with the CAD modeling for the base of the robot and manufacturing of the color sorter that sat on top of the base.
